MORNING SESSION
BREAKOUT GROUPS

The goal for this day is for each research group to prepare specific information about its overall objectives, time line for activities, and publication goals. It is also important to work out details and expectations for collaborations.
A tentative breakdown is given below for each research group. We have identified some individuals with cross-over interests (see notes in parentheses), but all individuals are free to cross between groups to ensure coordination of broader research activities or to identify multiple areas of collaboration.
The overall charge is that each group prepares a short Power Point presentation (to be delivered the next day) that addresses the questions below.

1)      What are the contributions to the overall objectives of the RETREAT project?
2)      What are the specific research objectives for the group?
3)      What collaborations are involved, and how will they be organized?
4)      What is the time line for research activities, and for publications? We strongly encourage that each group to identify research that can be published early in the project.
5)      Are there problems or obstacles that might significantly delay the planned schedule?

0900: Meet in breakout groups.
1400: Organize presentations.
1700: End of session.

MORNING SESSION
SUMMARY PRESENTATIONS AND DISCUSSION

In addition to the summaries, we hope to have time to review pros and cons about where the geodetic and seismic networks will be deployed. The key issues are to ensure that the networks have a clear connection to the other field studies, that they have sufficient coverage of the asthenosphere above the slab, and that they avoid the complexities associated with magmatism starting in southern Tuscany.

0900: Geodynamics
0930: Tectonics
1000: Geomorphology
1100: Thermochronology
1130: Geodetics
1200: Seismology
1800: End of session
